Frequently asked questions

Almased can be mixed with 200-350ml of water or 200ml of low-fat milk, unsweetened almond or soya milk. We also recommend adding 2 tsps of an essential oil such as flaxseed, rapeseed, olive or walnut to ensure an adequate intake of omega-3 fatty acids. As Almased is neutral in taste, you can also flavour your shake with low-calorie ingredients such as cinnamon, unsweetened cocoa powder, berries, coffee, vanilla or almond extracts.

Almased can be safely consumed by people with Diabetes, due its very low glycaemic index and exceptionally low glycaemic load. It should be consumed in conjunction with a balanced diet and alongside insulin and anti-diabetic medications. Almased is proven effective for weight loss and to reduce long-term blood glucose levels and insulin demand; findings which have been confirmed in robust clinical trials. When taken daily, Almased can be an effective tool for managing Diabetes, or equally, reducing the risk of the condition.

Fat is a very important dietary component. It provides you with energy, protects vital organs, insulates the body and aids in the absorption of vitamins such as A,D,K and E. Saturated fats from animal products are those that should be consumed in moderation however, unsaturated types (omega-3 and omega-6) are essential as these fats cannot be made by the body - we have to obtain it through our diet. Essential fatty acids can assist in the maintenance of blood cholesterol levels and have a positive influence on heart health and cognitive function. We recommend including 2 teaspoons of flaxseed, olive, rapeseed or walnut oil to each shake, to ensure an adequate intake of these essential fatty acids. If you do supplement with either a daily fish oil, evening primrose or flaxseed oil, then it is not necessary to add oil to each Almased shake.
