Recent findings from The World Health Organisation (WHO) estimate that nearly 1 in 11 adults globally, are now affected by Diabetes.
Key factors driving this dramatic rise in diabetes include being overweight or obese. Type 2 diabetes is primarily a result of excess weight, 80-90% of those with Type 2 are overweight and approximately 80-85% are obese. Why is Almased® suitable for those with Type 2 diabetes?

The manufacturing process of Almased® results in a high proportion of plant based protein and a product which has a low glycaemic index (GI - 27) and an extremely low glycaemic load (GL - 4). Foods with low GI and GL are slowly absorbed into the body and ensure blood glucose levels are only raised slightly while the body’s requirement for insulin is reduced. As a result of this lower insulin requirement, fat stores are utilised for energy thus making it easier to lose weight.
